Woman’s body found in C&O Canal

Investigators are working to determine the cause of death and identity of a woman found in the water of the C&O Canal in Georgetown Saturday.

Police responding to a call shortly before noon found a woman in the water behind the Swedish Embassy. The stretch, near where Rock Creek flows into the Potomac, is slightly secluded from the busy tourist areas of the Georgetown waterfront.
