The body of a woman was found in a wooded area in Laurel Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
According to Howard County police, a man discovered the body while walking in the woods around 4 p.m. and called 911. The body was found near the 9000 block of Route 1, close to the Patuxent Freeway, police said.
Authorities believe the body is a woman in her 40s who was reported missing several weeks ago by a friend.
There are no obvious signs of foul play, police said, and investigators believe the woman may have been homeless.
A cause of death has not been determined. The investigation is ongoing.
