Chain Bridge signs cause near-misses, griper says

A griper e-mailed to say a sign informing drivers of correct lane changes, along Chain Bridge, going from the District into Virginia, is covered with vines. And a visible sign may not be correct.

“Since I travel this bridge several times a day, I cannot tell you how many near collisions/collisions I witness or have been a part of,” the griper wrote. “I really don’t blame those right lane drivers because the sign telling them to turn right ONLY is barely visible. Blink and you miss it.”

Joan Morris with Virginia Department of Transportation responded to the Daily Gripe just minutes after receiving an e-mail.

“I haven’t heard of any complaints at that location, but clearly we need to check it out,” she wrote. “Will get back to you in a few days.”

Are you witnessing drivers have near-misses because of hidden signs?
