A D.C. sports Christmas

I don’t technically celebrate Christmas, but any excuse for posting photos of D.C. athletes in silly holiday-themed headgear is a good excuse for posting photos of D.C. athletes in silly holiday-themed headgear.

Plus, you should watch the above video of Brooks Laich and Joel Ward attempting to wish everyone a happy holidays. It’s sort of tortured.

Ok, this is Ronny Turiaf, wearing antlers at a Wizards charity event. Everyone looks better in antlers.

See, here’s Monique Currie, wearing antlers at a Mystics charity event. Well, I guess both events were technically Monumental Sports charity events. But that’s not the point. The point is, antlers. Possibly the same antlers. See more images here.

Oh, and Michal Neuvirth also showed up, looking for all the world like an elf. Hard for an NHL goalie to do a better elf impersonation than this.

This is a sweater. An amazing sweater. “Tis the season for an ugly Christmas sweater party!” one Stephen Strasburg tweeted last week. Oh, for an image of him in said ugly Christmas sweater.

Here’s Redskins rookie nose tackle Chris Neild, with another life form. “Nephew is a nut lol,” Neild tweeted on Saturday.

Here’s a Redskins team gathering from the locker room, in honor of yet another charity event. “Some of the guys!” Erik Cook tweeted as he filed this image.

Even more Redskins doing good works, this time at the annual Christmas Dinner fundraiser at Dons’ Wood-Fired Pizza in Sterling. Graham Gano with a pepperoni pizza, might be an appropriate caption here. Read more at the Skins Blog; see more photos here.

Hey, it’s Clinton Portis inside the White House. And after wearing a Phillies hat while he played for the Redskins, he’s finally coming correct. Via his new Twitter account, which promises much awesomeness.

Redskins-themed Christmas lights. Not technically a D.C. athlete, but these guys are about as recognizable as most of the starters nowadays. Via @cschonberger.

And finally, me. As a grouchy elf. In front of John Wall. Because why not.
