A Nats fan’s ‘Built Fake Tough’ sign

Maybe you heard how the Phillies made a few headlines this week with jokey “Fake Tough” t-shirts. (I first saw them at Nats Inquisition, via Jim Salisbury.)

(The phrase, of course, referred to the famous quote Mike Rizzo gave to Adam Kilgore last month, after Cole Hamels hit Bryce Harper.

“Cole Hamels says he’s old school?” Rizzo said then. “He’s the polar opposite of old school. He’s fake tough.”)

Well, even before the Phillies fans busted out these shirts, seen below, Nats fan and Bog Reader Pete brought a Fake Tough poster of his own to Citizens Bank Park.

Pete lives in Philly, and had hoped to get a photo of the poster “with Bryce Harper holding it while spitting on a cheesesteak and winning a presidents race dressed as Teddy Roosevelt.”

Still, good enough as is.
