Alex Ovechkin and Vladimir Putin

Last year, Alex Ovechkin revealed in an interview that he had Russian president Vladimir Putin’s phone number.

“But it’s not his cell phone number, but rather his home phone,” he explained at the time. “I call him often. But Putin is never at home. So far I haven’t managed to talk to him yet!”

From the looks of this picture posted on the Kremlin’s official Web site, that has been remedied.

Ovi and the Russian team won this year’s International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships, which hopefully means that Ovi will be leaving fewer voice mails.
