After drawing extensive coverage this summer for cheering on his girlfriend at Wimbledon and then again during the Olympics, Alex Ovechkin is back in the news this week for cheering on his girlfriend at the U.S. Open.
From the Wall Street Journal:
While his girlfriend, No. 14 seed Maria Kirilenko, signed autographs for fans outside the practice courts, Ovechkin lingered a few feet behind toting her tennis bag. The pair then walked toward the players lounge, while a few fans took photos of the doting couple.
Indeed, a reader (@elnino2413) sent along the above image from the Open, which appears to show Ovechkin lingering a few feet behind, toting a tennis bag. And wearing a bright pink shirt.
Ovechkin also joined Kirilenko at last week’s New Haven Open, where she lost in the final to Petra Kvitova. Images below. He really likes that pink shirt.
