Are these Maryland’s new football uniforms?

UPDATE: I’m told these are not, in fact, the team’s new uniform design. The new designs are scheduled to be released this summer; there is no exact date yet.

As with all new uniform releases, the news that Maryland football would debut new uniforms in 2011 has prompted plenty of “Are these Maryland’s new uniforms?” blog items.

For example, in February, Haroon Brown sparked speculation by posting these images on his Twitter feed. In March, the Baltimore Sun wrote a short piece on the new jerseys, quoting AD Kevin Anderson saying that the look would highlight the state of Maryland, and that “I truly believe that when we come out with a Maryland brand, it will be second to none. It will directly compete with Nike and what Nike does for Oregon.”

Now, Terps fans have found images from EA Sports’s NCAA Football 12 game, offering yet another look at the prospective jerseys. (Original images from here and here, via Reader Brett.)

Second to none? Your thoughts?
