Back in early August, Bryce Harper smashed his bat on home plate in frustration, and Sarah wrote about it. It was at least his third well-publicized assault on a piece of baseball lumber this season — after he Bam Bam’d himself and later snapped a twig over his knee — and Sarah predicted it wouldn’t be the last.
“I’m just saying that the odds are pretty good that Harper victimizes another bat at some point,” she wrote.
She was right! Only took a couple weeks, too!
The latest poor piece of wood met its maker late Monday night, when Harper ended the 11th inning by striking out with a man on first. Then he did the Harper Smash. See the GIF here.
The last time this happened, Harper apologized to Marlins catcher John Buck. Not sure if Monday’s demolition required an apology.
