Bryce Harper has been wearing Under Amour’s new Highlight Spine cleats for a couple weeks already. It’s a higher-topped shoe with ankle support, which the company brags is both lightweight and durable.
He got a special model for the All-Star game, though, and it was very Bryce Harper.
“Those are great, aren’t they?” Harper told Comcast SportsNet’s Kelli Johnson. “They’re awesome for the camera....They’re pretty impressive. They’ve got that Vegas feel to ‘em. I like that gold.
“Strasburg said something to me, I’ve got Ks on my cleats. That’s not good. That’s not a good vibe to have when you’re going up to the plate and hitting. I’ve got Ks on [my batting gloves] and Ks on my cleats. Hopefully I don’t K. And Strasburg said it’s not a backwards K, it’s a swinging K.”
Well, he didn’t K. He walked, went to second on a flyball, and then got caught in a rundown. But his cleats looked awesome.
Update: He actually did K, too.
