Cal Ripken is selling hamburgers at Giant

Aside from those awkward Stephen Strasburg Toyota ads, there aren’t a whole lot of Nats players endorsing a whole lot of companies in the D.C. market. But Cal Ripken still evidently has the power to push product in Washington.

Via the Maryland Daily Record:

Baltimore’s Iron Man is now in your Giant’s freezer. Cal Ripken Jr. and Monkton-based Roseda Beef have teamed up to bring “Ripken Gourmet Burgers” to 30 Giant Food stores in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia with plans to double the number of distribution locations soon.

The rest of the story is subscription-only, so I can’t tell you whether there are recommended condiments or plans to expand to Ripken Turkey Burgers in the future.

As for Roseda Beef, owner Ed Burchell brags that “our grandparents didn’t feed their cattle growth hormones or daily antibiotics; nor do we. Sometimes less is more. We run Roseda as a farm, not a factory. I think you’ll taste the difference in every delicious bite of Roseda Beef.”
