Caps fan salutes Vinny Lecavalier

Late in the third period Sunday night, Verizon Center was just about silent.

Then Alex Ovechkin scored, and it was a cauldron of noise. Although cauldrons aren’t very loud. It was a loud cauldron.

The volume didn’t really decrease much until the intermission before overtime, and then Vinny Lecavalier scored, and then it got silent again. An unpleasant silence.

One fan behind the glass was feeling particularly unpleasant. This image ran huge in Monday’s Washington Post. If you look in the lower left hand corner, you can see the man’s finger. If you’re curious, though, @NatsPhaseTwo got a more complete image.
