D.C. by itself in supporting the Strasburg Shutdown

Here is a numerical representation of that trend. Obviously, an ESPN.com poll isn’t scientific, even if it includes 165,000 votes. Still, it’s pretty striking to notice that 50 states think the Nats should let Strasburg pitch, and one tiny little diamond thinks they should shut him down.

(Note: As a reader points out below, Virginia and Maryland are both 51-49 in favor of letting him pitch; they appear to be the next-closest areas after D.C. The District, meantime, is 55-45 in favor of the Shutdown.)

Nationally, 44 percent of ESPN.com voters side with the Nats, and 56 percent do not.

When The Post ran a reader poll on this issue in May, 81 percent sided with the Nats, and 19 percent did not.
