D.C. United has been using the “Nobody Likes New York” slogan to advertise Sunday’s home match for weeks, but the ads got bigger this week, and were all over this here Web site, among others.
Kind of funny.
Not everybody loved the campaign, I guess.
“They ruined it by making NY star Thierry Henry way more prominent than DeRo,” one site wrote, although clearly in this version DeRo is bigger.
“NO ONE LIKES US, NO ONE LIKES US. NO ONE LIKES US, WE DON’T CARE. WE ARE NEW YORK, SUPER NEW YORK,” one Red Bulls supporter wrote on Reddit.
“It got me thinking about a few more things nobody likes, like missing the playoffs for four straight years,” another NYRB fan wrote on DCist. “Nobody likes playing in a disaster zone of a stadium. And I can’t imagine anybody likes having your big rivals plow down Interstate 95, abuse you with four unanswered goals, and leave with what ended up being our easiest road points of 2011. (And we were TERRIBLE on the road in 2011.) Seems like selective memory from the DCU marketing team.”
Or maybe it’s just funny.
