
There used to be a legitimate debate about whether Sidney Crosby in his prime was better than Alex Ovechkin in his prime. It was a debate that used to get Caps fans very energetic. Defensive, even.
People don’t have that debate much any more, for a variety of reasons. And a great many people agree that, when healthy, Crosby is almost certainly the more valuable player.
I don’t think many people would argue that Crosby is five times better than Ovechkin, though. Certainly not many D.C. sports radio reporter/hosts. But ESPN 980’s Chris Russell, a longtime and devoted NHL fan, evidently believes that. And more power to him. He also says in Ovechkin’s prime, Crosby was at least twice as good. Minority opinion.
