F.P. Santangelo catches foul ball from the booth during Nats-Red Sox

During Sunday’s Nationals-Red Sox game at Fenway Park, Xavier Nady fouled one back toward the broadcast booth and into F.P. Santagelo’s waiting bare hand.

The Nats color analyst’s impressive, one-handed catch from the booth earned some cheers from the crowd and prompted a salute from the former major leaguer.

“Check this out, folks. I still got it,” Santangelo said during the replay. “Thank you very much, everybody. I’ll be here all week.”

The salute inspired a bit of snark from boothmate Bob Carpenter.

“Well, at least you didn’t bask in the adoration or anything.”

Some quick googling tells me that this is the second time this season that a broadcaster has nabbed a foul ball. Royals broadcaster Rex Hudler needed both hands to reel one in during an April game.
