Obviously we all hoped to see 11th seeded GW play second-seeded Georgetown in the Sweet 16 last year. Obviously that didn't happen.
We did, however, get to see a Danilo PInnock-led Panama team play a Roy Hibbert-led U.S. team in the Pan Am Games yesterday. Both players starred--Hibbert led the U.S. with 19 points and 9 rebounds, and Pinnock (late of the Wizards summer league team) hit two key three-pointers and led Panama with 23 points and 5 assists.
Question: Why do we have to read PDF box scores from Brazil to see what happens when GW plays Georgetown?
Jay Wright: "I thought (Danilo) Pinnock in the second half just got it going, we had no answer for him in the second half."
Drew Neitzel: "We let Pinnock get hot and he kind of turned the game around."
Hibbert: "(Being here) means a lot because I get to wear USA across my chest. I've dreamed about that since I was a little kid, so I'm just going to have to try to pull a win. No matter what happens, in the end, we just have to keep our heads up and just keep playing."
