As far as I know, the first story about Maryland basketball ballboy Zach Lederer and his fight against cancer occurred on Columbia’s Patch site. The first I heard of it was on SB Nation DC, in early February. The first time I wrote about it was a couple days later, when Mark Turgeon struck the pose.
From there, it went to other Maryland stars, and to the Baltimore Sun, and to a Lederer press availability, and then to official Terps t-shirts, and there was a Tumblr page, and a feature on ESPN’s College GameDay, and then came this past weekend, when Lil Wayne sent out a photo of himself Zaching to his 6 million followers on Twitter, with the caption “4 Zach.”
Which isn’t bad for six weeks.
