Lindsay Czarniak interviews Alex Ovechkin

Former D.C. sportscaster and current ESPN anchor Lindsay Czarniak did a piece with Alex Oveckhin that will air on the 11 p.m. SportsCenter this Sunday. From the press release:

Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin is known for being a dynamic playmaker, but this season his offensive production has slipped amidst questions about his commitment to winning and his team leadership abilities. Lindsay Czarniak has an inside look at the Russian superstar’s life on and off the ice, including rare access with his family, and how Ovechkin answers those who say his parents exert too much control on his life and career.

Well, that doesn’t sound boring.

The network released a 50-second clip on Thursday, that includes this exchange.

Czarniak: What do you want your legacy to be?

Ovechkin: You know, it’s simple. I want to be a winner. But you can see Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Wayne Gretzky — that kind of people — where you can see and say yeah, this is players who win everything. I want to be in this page, too.

Czarniak: How close do you think you are to it?

Ovechkin: I’m not close. I’m close personally; I win MVPs, I win Hart, I win Rocket Richard, and all that kind of stuff. But again, it’s nothing to compared to Stanley Cup and compared to championships.
