Maryland basketball and the Under Armour shoe problem

The Maryland women’s basketball team’s efforts to get back to the Final Four were derailed in the latter parts of the second first half Tuesday night, when a relentless Notre Dame run turned a close game into a rout.

As part of that sequence, Laurin Mincy lost her shoe. Her Under Armour shoe. Which ESPN then talked about for about half of a 60-second report on the game. Including several freeze frames. Of the offending shoe. Which was made by Under Armour.

“Terps shoe FAIL in elite-8 game was featured prominently on SportsCenter,” Brett Haber noted. “Not the message UA was looking for.”
