You’ve already been introduced to Redskins third rounder Josh LeRibeus and you’re certainly familiar with RGIII. Let’s see what we know about the team’s fourth-round draft pick, quarterback Kirk Cousins.
The announcing of this pick raised a few eyebrows and inspired a super-ridiculous ESPN poll. After all, the last thing the Redskins need is another quarterback controversy. But depth is important, and the more I learn about this kid, the more I think he’ll be a good yin to RGIII’s yang.
College: Michigan State
Drafted Round 4, Pick 7, 102 overall
It’s possible that he thinks the Redskins got him at a steal.
In an interview with FOX17 in West Michigan at some point prior to the draft, Cousins discussed which round he expected to go in. Spoiler alert, it wasn’t the fourth.
“As far as trying to get a feel on the round, I think that the second round is what I’ve heard most consistently. Um, there have been people who have said maybe the first round. I think that could be a stretch, but we’ll see. In addition to the people who say the first or second round, I think there have been just as many who say you could fall to the third round. We’ll see what happens. I’m going to keep an open mind. I would be surprised if I was still around on Saturday, and still available to be picked, but, um, I’m going to react whatever happens and not be disappointed and be excited for whenever I get picked.”
He thinks he’s better looking than Andrew Luck.
In an interview with Dan Patrick, Cousins bragged that he had the edge over Luck in the looks department. Also, in table tennis. “I can take [Luck] any day in ping pong,” he bragged.
He’ll sing “Friday” by Rebecca Black if you ask him nicely.
In the end of that same Dan Patrick interview (around the 7:20 mark), Cousins breaks into the first verse of the viral hit song. Maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll get a little “Hail to the Redskins” duet with RGIII.
He has a great attitude.
Cousins gave this incredible speech about privilege and entitlement at the 2011 Big 10 Kickoff Luncheon. Albert Breer would approve.
