Yesterday was a good day for D.C. sports fans.
The Caps secured a spot in the playoffs, the Nats won their season opener and the Wizards. . . well, they only lost by 5.
It was the kind of day that makes the following days inconsequential. If the Nats lose their next one, no big deal. They took the season opener. If the Caps lose on Saturday, it’s okay. They’re in the playoffs regardless.
I’m not saying that they don’t want to win those games, but it takes the pressure off of being a fan, if only for moment.
That feeling has been hard to come by lately. Enjoy being a D.C. fan today.
BECAUSE YOU DON’T READ THE PAPER
* Brooks Laich made good on his promise, and Wise gives him credit.
* Nationals reserve infielder Chad Tracy is already earning his keep.
* Boz says Tiger’s biggest obstacle is himself.
QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
Ian Desmond on the pitching of Stephen Strasburg:
“You can’t take anything for granted. And then he throws that curveball, it’s kind of unfair. There’s no doubt about it. He’s an ace.”
