Morning pixels: Leonsis responds to being called ‘cheap’

In Mike Wise’s most recent column, he raised a few questions about local team ownership, highlighting the spending habits of Dan Snyder and Ted Leonsis in particular. The gist of it can be summed up with this paragraph:

But there’s also no question about this: Leonsis and Snyder have won the same number of championships, but Snyder has spent a heck of a lot more of his money trying to get one. That might make Leonsis a shrewder businessman, but a Washington sports fan could legitimately ask, “Which guy wants to win more?”

I knew as soon as I read it that we’d be getting a response from Ted via his blog at some point. There was no way he was letting this one slide.

Sure enough, yesterday afternoon Leonsis addressed the column. At least I assume it was Wise’s column, because he never linked to it or mentioned Wise by name.

But despite the clear intentions of not letting the words “Mike Wise” appear on his blog, Leonsis took the time to address the points of the column. If you found Wise’s piece interesting, you might want to read Leonsis’s also.

“It’s a whole new ballgame. There’s not going to be much let-up in the middle of that lineup. The first two guys are going to get on, and then the thunder’s coming. I’ve been waiting on it.”
