The Redskins will be holding this year’s Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 4.
According to the release sent over, last year's celebration drew more than 29,000 fans. That was without RGIII mania, so it’s safe to assume there will be one heck of a crowd.
There will be cheerleaders, marching bands, prizes and player autographs for you and 28,999 of your closest friends. It’s free, so get there early. Maybe the night before. Better yet, just go ahead and leave now.
Also, bonus points to anyone who gets a “Robert Helu” autograph.
BECAUSE YOU DON’T READ THE PAPER...
* A scandal in Olympic badminton, as eight players are sent home for throwing matches. As Tweeter @GourmetSpud aptly put it, “It is never acceptable to throw a badminton match unless the steaks are almost grilled and you’re angling for first pick.”
* American Olympic boxers are not doing well.
* The Nats lost to the Phillies, one home run at a time.
* Redskins safeties seek redemption.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
DeAngelo Hall on the Redskins secondary:
“We always joke with each other, saying we have a secondary full of misfits. We have guys that I feel like nobody else wanted in this league.”

This kid has either found an amusing way to talk to girls, or a really quick way to lose friends.
