Morning pixels: RGIII could see 30-35 plays

Hold on to your hats, folks. Mike Shanahan said yesterday that the Redskins’ starters will see 30-35 plays in tomorrow night’s preseason game against the Bears. That means that RGIII could start the entire first half, so those of you who had plans to dip out after the first quarter might want to rearrange your schedule.

There is still a question of whether or not Griffin falls under the same rules as the rest of the starters.

“It all depends,” Shanahan said after yesterday’s practice. “A lot has to depend on the number of series, number of plays. I shouldn’t say the number of plays, because sometimes the series really don’t dictate the amount of plays that you have. But we’re going to get certain guys a certain amount of plays. We’ll see if we get that done.”

How wonderfully ambiguous.

It does sound like RGIII wants to see those 30-35 plays.

“You just have to play more. It’s hard to pull from 14 plays. ‘I need to work on this, this, and this,’” he said on Monday, reflecting on his performace against Buffalo. “I thought I did a good job of going through my reads. The receivers did a good job of getting their depth on their routes, making sure that they were in the right spots at the right time and did a good job of running after the catch. I thought everybody did really well. We threw in some screens in there and some short game, some play-action pass, all within those 14 plays, and for the most part it was all successful.”

I think Comcast would certainly agree with that last sentiment.
