Nats attempting to set trombone record

Fun to me: Perhaps taking a page out of the minor league promotion handbook, the Nationals will be attempting to break a trombone world record.

From the release:

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will partner with FAME (The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education, Inc.) to bring together more than 500 trombone players at Nationals Park in an attempt to set the world record for the largest all-trombone ensemble.

I’m kind of amazed that this record doesn’t already exist.

The noise will happen on the field Friday at 6:30 p.m., ahead of the Nats’ home game against the Braves. Of course, they’ll be performing “76 Trombones.” Consider this fair warning if you have a fear of brass instruments.

Maybe a few will stick around and make sad trombone noises after each Atlanta strikeout.
