Nats pay tribute to Macho Man in Presidents Race

The Racing Presidents made two bits of news on Friday night.

Last thing first: Jayson Werth referenced Teddy’s epic losing streak as one of the club’s issues.

“If you want to start talking about it, we can talk about it. I mean, why doesn’t Teddy get to win?” he asked reporters, via Mark Zuckerman. “There’s a lot of things I said I had on my mind. There’s things we need to change. It’s not just one thing. It’s not just two things. There are some things going on that I see that need to be changed in order for us to win ballgames.”

I assume the Teddy part was a joke.

Also, Giant Racing Abe paid homage to Randy “Macho Man” Savage during the nightly main event. This photo above comes from the indispensable Let Teddy Win, and it’s simply amazing. I’m guessing a Presidential baseball mascot has never before paid homage to a beloved pro wrestler in the history of the world.
