Nick Young’s new bow and arrow celebration

I didn’t see all of Washington’s win in Portland on Tuesday night — like Ted Leonsis, I was asleep — but by reading Michael Lee’s blog post the next morning, I learned of a crucial development.

Yes, Nick Young debuted a new archery-themed celebration, seen above.

“After he made a series of threes, Young acted as if he were shooting an arrow from a bow, a new signature move that he credited to JaVale McGee,” Lee wrote.

(McGee Young later demonstrated the move for WashingtonWizards.com’s Jumoke Davis, which is where these images are taken from.)

“JaVale told me I should add some flavor to my threes, we was coming up with something,” Young said. “We worked together and came up with the idea.”

“Of course,” Lee wrote, “he needed to make some shots so that he wouldn’t look foolish. Fortunately, as Young said, ‘It was one of those nights.’ ”

“Hold up the three [fingers], because it’s only when I’m shooting threes” Young told Davis. “You pull it back, boom, like a bow and arrow, boom.”
