Orakpo: You’d have to be dumb not to assume RGIII was starting

(JONATHAN ERNST - REUTERS)
Robert Griffin III being named the Redskins starter in May merited a PTI debate this week. Heck, we debated it on Post Sports Live, but only because they forced us to by threatening to take our away our coffee machine.

Brian Orakpo praised the move when talking to reporters on Monday, but he was much more effusive during an appearance on 106.7 The Fan.

This came when he was asked if he expected RGIII would be named the team’s starting quarterback as a rookie.

I mean, who didn’t expect it?” Orakpo told Holden Kushner and Danny Rouhier. “People have to be dumb if they didn’t feel like he was going to be the starter at week 1. I mean, there’s a reason why we moved up, lost two first rounders and a second rounder for the guy: to be our starter. Coach Shanahan (put) the nail in the coffin. He’s our starter from day one. That’s what we’re gonna roll with, that’s what the whole team expected and that’s what we’re ready for and I’m very excited about that.”
