Redskins now second choice to win NFC East

A degenerate friend of mine bet on the Redskins to win the NFC East at the very beginning of September. The odds were +180 +1800, or 18-1. Washington was, obviously, the longest shot in the division.

By last week, Bodog had the Redskins down to +600, or 6-1. They were the third choice, having moved ahead of the Giants.

And I just checked Bodog again. The results are above. The Redskins are listed at +350, or 7-2. They are the second choice, having now also passed the Cowboys.

Sure, the Eagles are the overwhelming favorites to win the division, but to go from 18-1 to 7-2 in two weeks is a pretty large move.

“I think the Redskins will be very competitive,” Trent Dilfer said on ESPN Radio this week. “The team that has the most mental toughness, the most fortitude’s gonna win that division, and I think the Skins could be in the conversation.”

“The Washington Redskins are 2-0,” Stephen A. Smith said in the 30 seconds of his podcast I could bear to listen to. “They’re in first place in the NFC East. What wanton hubris is this? I can’t believe it. I can’t believe Rex Grossman is quarterbacking a team to a 2-0 start.”

As far as the Super Bowl is concerned, the Redskins were listed at 100-1 by Bodog in the first week of September. Now, BetUS has them at 45-1; has them at 35-1, and Bodog has them at 45-1.

(Though Sportsbook, oddly, has a considerably dimmer view of the team’s NFC East prospects, as seen below.)
