Redskins vs. Ravens, Maybe

In paintball. Maybe.

Ravens TE Daniel Wilcox, in addition to being a huge Washington Mystics fan and an enthusiastic blogger, is apparently a big paintball guy. Also, his foundation supports two youth camps, the Paul Robeson Academic International School of Excellence (PRAISE) Academy in Baltimore and the Summer Bridge Leadership & Academic Immersion Institute in D.C. So he came up with this fund-raising idea to have a big paintball tournament, featuring many members of the Ravens and many members of the Redskins, who would lead teams of their respective fans into inter-I-95-paintball-battle.

"Let's Finally Prove Whose City Is BEST!" suggests the tournament Web site. The event is June 2 in Taneytown. Read all about it here.

Problem is, the Redskins "captain" was Kerry Carter, who was released two weeks ago and is thus not technically a Redskin any more. Also, Carter was in charge of marshaling Team D.C. So at this point, the organizers aren't actually sure who from the Skins will be representing Team D.C. Team Baltimore, on the other hand, has about two dozen Raven RSVP's, including Wilcox, Ed Reed, Mark Clayton, B.J. Sams, Willis McGahee and Steve McNair. I have a bad feeling our city will not be proven best.

Anyhow, the exact format is still up in the air; there will likely be nine civilians and one NFL player per team, although the whole city vs. city concept might be shelved depending on Redskins participation levels. Registration closes tomorrow. Fighting dogs will not be permitted.
