Events DC was asked to create a float for this year’s Cherry Blossom parade, and so they chose to build their mobile offering around our beloved RFK Stadium.
The float was designed to align with last year’s 50th anniversary of RFK and highlight some of the reasons people in this city love that stadium and why events like DC United games are keeping it alive. Steven Goff once said it best when he called the aging structure “soulful but obsolete.”
It was an honorable tribute, but perhaps not entirely accurate as it made it through the parade without anything falling apart.

The float was manned by dance music icon Kristine W, Events DC President and CEO Greg O’Dell, D.C. United mascot Talon, drum major Justin LaMotte representing the annual AT&T Nation’s Football Classic, and Chinyere Hubbard, Teri Washington, Ashley Forrester and DaLeyna Adkinson of Events DC.
