“Rich-what?” “Rich-mond”

Remember the scene in Coach Carter where Samuel L. Jackson engages in an emotional and touching crescendo of “Rich-what?” “Rich-mond” call-and-response with his basketball players from Richmond, California?

Yeah, I’ve never seen the movie either, but the scene is below. Anyhow, it turns out that the cheerleaders from Richmond, Virginia sometimes use this cheer, too. At least, when they’re on a plane coming back from two NCAA tournament wins.

They also use the “We Are” (clap clap) “U R” (clap clap) cheer in this above video, which is really existentially confusing. (Via TimesDispatch.com, whose A1 headline on Monday morning was hoops-heavy.)
