Here’s Robert Griffin III warming up for his second preseason game, against the Bears. You’ll notice he’s wearing headphones.
I’m not picking and choosing images here, either. All the pre-game shots in Chicago, and there were many, showed Griffin with his headphones on. Even in the running drills. And people started to notice.
“Hey RGIII: You can take the headphones off now and then,” wrote Politico’s Patrick Gavin.
More importantly, Griffin’s pre-game routine caught the eye of one Sonny Jurgensen, who mentioned it disapprovingly on the air during the Redskins Radio Network broadcast.
(I haven’t been able to find the exact quote, but I’m told by a reliable source that Jurgensen was definitely critical of the headphones on the air.)

Anyhow, here’s Robert Griffin III warming up for his third preseason game, against the Colts. You’ll notice he’s not wearing headphones. Again, I’m not picking and choosing images. Every pregame Colts photo I see shows RGIII, sans headphones.
