Strasburg Shutdown Contest

(Jonathan Newton - WASHINGTON POST)

The Strasburg Shutdown Situation has reached the point of insanity. We’ve heard from juuust about everybody on the Nats’ plan to end their star pitcher’s season once he reaches his innings limit. Terry Bradshaw, for one, thinks it’s just nuts ! So does Rudy Giuliani. The Post’s Editorial Board, on the other hand, believes in preserving Mr. Strasburg’s future. Dan Steinberg, meantime, disagrees with whatever the most recent person to have an opinion has to say.

Any thoughts on who’ll be next to weigh in? It could be anybody. Really, anybody. Here are my guesses:

Wayne Gretzky: “You miss 100 percent of the innings you don’t pitch.”

Todd Akin: “I’ve been told that even if he’s about to get re-injured, his body has ways of shutting that whole thing down.”

So in the spirit of making up quotes from famous people, we thought it might be time for a little contest. Submit your own fake Strasburg Shutdown opinions by posting them in the comments below or tweeting them with the hashtag #strasburgopinions . We don’t really have any prizes to offer (maybe a Washington Post t-shirt if you come pick it up or pay me back for shipping), but we’ll highlight some of our favorites later.
