We first learned of Ted Leonsis’s rally poncho via the Twitter feed of his son Zach, who sent out this note late on Tuesday night: “#rallyponcho.”
Indeed, #rallyponcho it was, as the Caps mounted an incredible late-game rally to beat the Islanders in overtime and possibly salvage their season.
“My friend Seth Hurwitz gave me a Caps poncho that he bought in Mexico — it is so ugly it is beautiful,” Leonsis later wrote on his blog. “He insisted I wear it to rally the team! I did — and boom — we get the two points! Thank you Seth! Rally Poncho!”
Indeed. Rally Poncho!
Hurwitz, of course, is the co-owner of the 9:30 Club, who recently defended Leonsis in the 9:30 Club’s online formus:
Ted Leonsis is one of the nicest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He genuinely cares about how everyone is treated. He may not have solved all of his teams' problems, but I can assure you that the intent is there. You all know me...I am not an ass-kisser...but we are lucky to have him here.
Rally Poncho!
