The Baltimore Bohemians Natty Boh mascot

(Photos by Steve Goodman.)
Whether or not you’re from Baltimore, a soccer fan or a supporter of the Baltimore Bohemians, I assume we can all agree that the first-year club has the greatest mascot costume in the history of organized sports, yes?

If you didn’t know, here’s a brief summary of the Bohemians:

The Baltimore Bohemians are a minor league soccer team that plays in the USL Premier Development League. Our inaugural season kicks off in May 2012. We play our home games at Cedar Lane Park in Bel Air. The goal for the Baltimore Bohemians is to gain exposure for the best young soccer talent in the Baltimore area and produce a competitive squad in the country’s top development league. National Bohemian serves as the team’s marquee sponsor.

By virtue of the team’s marquee sponsor having that marquee logo, the team also has one of the best looks in minor league soccer, if I could be so bold. The uniform, shown below, also manages to feature a crab. You can buy the gear here, and it’s awesome.

(The club also has a development agreement with D.C. United; the two teams are scheduled to play June 5 in Bel Air, and have agreed to cross-promote in each other’s markets.)
