The Breaking News to End All Breaking News

A Bog exclusive!!!!!!

So I'm sitting around chatting with Brian Davis post-presser. Asking him the usual questions, which I'll get to later. We get to talking about the D.C. sports scene, since, as has often been mentioned, Davis lives on Mass Ave. in NW. He mentions he's been to a Wizards game. I mention how Gilbert Arenas is the greatest human being since the dawn of carbon-based life. Then Brian Davis, one of D.C. United's new owners, drops this one on me.

"Gilbert will be our partner," he says. "You can print that."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He wasn't necessarily talking about DCU, just about their business ventures in general. Still, can you imagine? Gilbert partnered with Brian Davis and Christian Laettner? Owning D.C. United? Sitting with the Barra Brava? Going to charity mini-golf events? This was part of The Takeover. I should have known. It all makes too much sense. Somehow.

Brian Davis was serious. He said Gilbert knows Laettner from the league, and they've talked about joining forces. I mean, it's way, way too good to be true.

More on this story every day for the rest of my life.
