The Bryce Harper bat the Nats gave to Ozzie Guillen

Everyone had a nice chuckle when the Nats pulled off their Bryce Harper-Ozzie Guillen prank last week.

The escapade, you’ll recall, involved getting Harper to sign a bat, then smearing it with pine tar, writing a personalized message and shipping it off to Ozzie Guillen.

“To my hero, Ozzie, love you,” is how Guillen described the inscription, penned by Adam LaRoche.

Well, not exactly.

According to the above photo of the bat, put on the Internet by Guillen’s son Oney, the inscription actually read “To Ozzie — your my hero!”

The grammatical twist makes it all the more charming. Maybe.

Luke 1:37, by the way, is “For with God nothing shall be impossible,” which is how Harper signs every autograph.
