Earlier this week, I called the then-anonymous Wizards fan who showed up to Verizon Center in a “Baltche” jersey an American hero.
Well, that man now has a name, and a story.
From my inbox:
My name is Michael Lieberman and I am basically your American hero. I originally hail from Potomac, Md. and now reside as a quasi-employed attorney in the cultural epicenter immediately surrounding UDC. I am proud to say that I am a lifelong Wiz/Les Boulez fan and bought this jersey to protest the current WW administration.
It is my most sincere hope that this $59.99 purchase will inspire other Wizards fans to join the fight. Nothing would please my eyeballs more than an army of BALTCHE jerseys overtaking the Verizon Center as a sit-in protest. Tom Gugliotta would not stand for this and neither will any of us! I will now proceed to shoot 20 ft. jumpers with 18 seconds left on the shot clock. Good day, sir!
Yup. Still an American hero. As proof, Michael sent along a copy of his electronic receipt, which is basically the coolest electronic receipt of all time.
Maybe this will eventually wind up like that last scene from V for Vendetta, with everyone marching on Verizon Center while wearing Baltche jerseys.
For the original Baltcheisms, see here and here.
