The Military Bowl and Baltimore

The oddest part of these photos isn’t that they involve two NFL running backs holding a mini-football with photoshopped googly-eyes in an effort to promote a somewhat obscure college bowl game.

Ok, fine, I take it back, that is the oddest part of these photos.

But the second-oddest part has to be that both men — Vontae Leach and Ray Rice — play for the Baltimore Ravens. And they’re promoting a bowl game — the Dec. 28 Military Bowl — held in a Washington stadium, most famous as the longtime home of the Redskins.

And that’s not all! As you can see below, the game’s wacky social media mascot SGT Stripes has also posed with Ravens Coach John Harbaugh, and toured Japan with Orioles legend Cal Ripken.

Plus, the bowl’s Twitter account recently sent out an invite to “Come relive the #Ravens Super Bowl XXXV victory with Matt Stover, Qadry Ismail, & others.”

An RFK bowl game asking D.C. fans to relive a Ravens Super Bowl victory? Seriously, what gives, Military Bowl?
