In early November, I posted a picture of naked Nationals Park, stripped of its Kentucky Blue Grass Turf field for the first time since 2008.
After four years of use, “the grass became compacted and the decision was made to replace it with a fresh new surface of the same type of Kentucky Blue, which will be laid on top of brand new sand,” a spokeswoman told me then.
The work was completed around Thanksgiving, as planned, but I forgot to get an image of the finished product. So here it is, courtesy of the Nationals. Makes you long for April, no?
This concludes your mid-December Nationals Park playing surface update.
