The Wizards lead the NBA in dunks

I suppose I should have known this, but until Comcast SportsNet flashed this graphic during the first quarter of Wednesday night’s game at the Clippers, it wouldn’t have occurred to me that the Wizards were the most prolific dunkers in the NBA.

“I remember when the only stats that were kept were points and rebounds,” Phil Chenier said sadly during the segment. “And now it’s come to this.”

I’m not sure where to find team dunking stats, but CBS has player dunking stats. As of this writing, the Wizards are given credit for 178 dunks. The breakdown:

JaVale McGee 72 dunks (2nd in the NBA)

Trevor Booker 26 (tied for 25th)

Jan Vesely 19 (tied for 45th)

John Wall 16 (tied for 62nd)

Nick Young 9 (tied for 106th)

Andray Blatche 8 (tied for 120th)

Kevin Seraphin 8 (tied for 120th)

Chris Singleton 7 (tied for 132nd)

Jordan Crawford 6 (tied for 149th)

Rashard Lewis 4 (tied for 177th)

Maurice Evans 1 (tied for 246th)

Shelvin Mack 1 (tied for 246th)

Ronny Turiaf 1 (tied for 246th)
