I never got on the Tim Hightower-Green Lantern story line during preseason, but after he appeared to wear not one but two different Green Lantern-inspired t-shirts on Sunday, I’ll borrow liberally from some fellow scribes to explain.
“Having watched The Green Lantern over the summer, Hightower was taken by the message of using willpower to combat fear,” the Free Lance-Star reported. “And he has worn both a Green Lantern T-shirt and his own customized burgundy-and-gold version.”
“Many times in my past I’ve thought myself out of things,” he told the Skins Blog. “I’ve worried myself, and let a lot of things get in the way. It’s a reminder to keep my mind on the positives and not let the negatives get in the way. It’s just a reminder every time I put it on everyday, just to remember where I was at that point.”
Also, Hightower seemed kind of pleased to beat his own team. He told Comcast SportsNet’s Kelli Johnson how it felt.
“Good isn’t good enough,” Hightower said. “It’s hard to describe. Man....I mean,I told my friends and family to leave me alone this week. I intended to stay over there until 8, 9, 10 o’clock, just watching film. There was one day my coach told me to go home.”
Also, I can report that Hightower has at least one Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles items of clothing.
