Verizon Center’s beer prices

Reader Ryan sent me a note after the Caps’ last preseason game, pointing out that the price of a domestic pour at Verizon Center remained $8, but the size of the pour had decreased from 24 to 20 oz. Ryan was not too thrilled by this development.

Well, I asked a Caps spokesman this week, and he confirmed that this is indeed the case. Club-level domestic pours were actually 20 oz. and $8 last season, but that pricing has spread throughout the arena this season.

In case you’re curious, this essentially means that a 24 oz. beer at this year’s prices would cost $9.60, or 20 percent higher than a year ago.

Don’t really have much else to add here, except paying 20 percent more for beer is worse than paying the same price for beer. No prices for anything should go up, anywhere, ever.
