What You Need to Know, in Fewer Than 200 Words, Monday Morning

Forget two percent: Jon Jansen says Skins have shown 0.5 percent of their offense. Previews emphasize Washington's stinky preseason, Joe Gibbs's odd insistence that this is one of the most important games of his life, or the emotions of 9/11 commemorations. In Minnesota, the focus is on Brad Childress's debut, the Vikings's awful record outdoors and the franchise's recent follies.

Bad omens: Since 1980, five of 40 teams that went winless in the preseason made the playoffs. And road teams went 9-4 yesterday. Rough start for the NFC East. Post editorial board disapproves of "Redskins" name, which oughta go over well. Some intense keys to the game, and intense traffic predictions for tonight. Speaking of intense, 260+ pages on one fan thread?

It's West Virginia week, and Maryland hasn't unveiled its offense yet (hmmm) but will simplify its offense even more. Va. Tech's offense also inspires anxiety, but the defense is cruising. And Virginia: blech. Orioles are still trying to get a new Spring Training home, Rockies love playing the Nats and our Nats writer tries to avoid losing his mind, while a blogger says the Nats "suck so bad only dogs can hear it." "Too much rugby?" Never.
