Wizards Kiss Cam proposal

Scoreboard proposals are a love ‘em or hate ‘em tradition. Curtis Bryant of Ashburn is a love ‘em guy, so much so that he decided it was the way to go for his own proposal.

Bryant contacted the Wizards, who were more than happy to help him propose to his girlfriend of four years, Rachel Higgins.

“I’m a public person and she’s a public person,” he explained. “So I thought the best thing to do would be a Wizards game. I figured they would announce it on TV, too, which they did because my friends started texting me.”

The moment came when the couple appeared on the Kiss Cam during the third quarter. It was a little awkward (as proposals usually are), and it didn’t seem that Higgins was all that surprised. But after four years together, she had to have some clue.

Higgins insists that the public display of romance, while appreciated, wasn’t necessary.

“I didn’t even care,” she said. “I just wanted to get engaged.”

 Ah, romance.

The smooth groom-to-be almost ruined his chance by being a little too cool.

“He said to me, ‘Are you sure you want to go to the game? They’re playing a really bad team,’” Higgins laughed. “I told him we didn’t have to go if he didn’t want to.”

Luckily, Bryant was able to convince her to go.

The happy couple have already set a date of Aug. 4. This coming Aug. 4, so clearly they aren’t wasting any time.

If they don’t have a best man, we hear that G-Wiz wears a mean tux.
