Wizards will start selling red white and blue gear on Tuesday

There wouldn’t be much point to Tuesday’s unveiling of the Wizards’ new color scheme if there weren’t an accompanying batch of new merchandise, and sure enough, a Monday press release drove home the point.

The team announced that new merchandise will be for sale in the Verizon Center team store and on the team’s Web site at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Also, fans who bring “gently worn” Wizards jerseys and apparel in the old and ugly colors to the Verizon Center team store between Tuesday and Friday will get a 10 percent discount on the new stuff. The donations will be given to the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders program, which will also receive outdated team gear from the franchise.

The team store will be open from 11:30 to 5 and 6-9 on Tuesday, and from 11 to 6 the rest of the week.

Meanwhile, the old ugly stuff is on super-mega clearance, if you’re interested.
