Gio Gonzalez to be honored by Hialeah City Council

January 22, 2013

If you happen to live near Gio Gonzalez’s hometown of Hialeah and want throw the Nats pitcher some love, you can head to tonight’s city council meeting. The city’s Web site revealed that officials had something special planned.

Mayor Carlos Hernandez and the esteemed City Council invite our friends from the media to join us as we honor Giovanny Aramis “Gio” Gonzalez at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013.   Born and raised in Hialeah, this current pitcher for the Washing Nationals is a product of our city parks and schools.  The City of Hialeah is proud to honor Gio for all of his accomplishments in such a short amount of time.

Gio tweeted the news, along with the above picture of himself in the barber’s chair getting cleaned up. Apparently it’s Nats haircut week.

The city hasn’t specified what they’ll be doing to honor the pitcher, but Gio guessed on Instagram that it may have something to do with creating a Gio Gonzalez Day. I don’t know what happens on Gio Gonzalez Day, but I assume it has something to do with fishing in crazy shorts.
