“It’s been a great feeling, man,” he said. “The love I experienced today, the energy, the excitement with the ball club. Just a good feeling to be coming to a new team at the right time. They had a good season last year and I’m just excited.”
Span will likely be the lead off hitter, and the man has a plan.
“My task is just to get on base by any means necessary. Whether it’s getting hit by a pitch, reaching on an error, base hit, whatever it is. My job is going to be to start things off and set the tone. And even if I don’t get one base, to see a lot of pitches and get back to the dugout and relay the information to those guys.”
